Academic Council
The Academic Council comprises students from every year group, who apply to be members and/or are nominated by their Director of Studies.
The main focus of the group is to represent student voices on matters which relate to teaching and learning across the school. Students take a lead on areas that they would like to focus on, as well as presenting their views and analysing student surveys linked to departmental and key stage learning team reviews. Other areas that the council have investigated are how we can increase the time dedicated to reading for pleasure, and designing resources for peer-taught study skills sessions.
Member Perspectives
If you've ever said to yourself that you'd like to make change happen, then I highly recommend you join a council group. I am a member of the Academic Council. This group ensures that our voices are heard and that we can contribute to the development of our school society, which I love!
Millie, Year 9
The Academic Council helps students voice their opinions and ensures that they are heard. We survey student opinions on key aspects of teaching and learning, and discuss how we can develop areas of school life, such as reading for fun. Teachers ask us about our thoughts and we provide valuable feedback.
