Great Success for BGS GCSE Students!
Congratulations to our fantastic Year 11 cohort, who today achieved an excellent set of GCSE results. These results have surpassed those of 2023, which in turn were higher than the last set of comparable results from 2019:
Measure | 2024 | 2023 |
---|---|---|
Average Grade | 7.15 | 7.10 |
Attainment 8 | 74.9 | 74.3 |
% 9-8 | 44.9 | 42.8 |
% 9-7 | 68.6 | 65.8 |
% 9-5 | 97.1 | 97.1 |
% 9-4 | 99.5 | 99.4 |
The cohort recorded some remarkable outcomes:
- 112 (55%) of students have 9-7 in their best 8 subjects
- 47 (21%) of students gained 9-7 in all 11 of their subjects
- 155 (70%) of students achieved 56 points from their best 8 subjects (equivalent to straight 7s)
As well as outstanding results across the cohort, many individuals achieved excellent subject results or very strong results across all of their subjects. Some notable examples include:

I'm extremely proud of all of our students, who have achieved great success whilst studying three separate sciences, two foreign languages and at least one humanities subject alongside Mathematics and both English and English Literature. Over 30% of the cohort also studied a Further Mathematics GCSE in addition to their timetabled curriculum.
I'd like to thank the school's teaching staff for their endless work and commitment to the students' success, and also to the parents and carers without whose support the school would not continue to be as successful.
Well done, Year 11. We are very proud of what you have achieved and excited for the next steps on your journey.
