Sixth form curriculum statement

Beyond our enviable academic record, we are genuinely proud of the destinations our students secure on leaving us in Year 13. Over the past three years, an average of 79% of IB students gained their first choice of university (and most of those are secured early in July when IB results come out, beating the rush in August). We thrive on our consistent success in securing the best destinations for our students, from prestigious work-based placements to a whole range of universities, including record Oxbridge and Russell group university success for any school in the London Borough of Bexley.

Yet, in addition to these achievements, we are known in our local community as a school that cares for every individual. The outcomes speak for themselves but to get a sense of the vibrant buzz of the school community that we enjoy you need to visit us.

  • Why choose the IB?

    Bexley Grammar School has been teaching the IB since 2003 and became fully IB in 2017 to join an elite group of schools who offer only this gold standard of Sixth Form education. The IB is not, however, elitist; it is a coherent educational vision based upon a clearly defined set of values which BGS shares. It offers both depth and breadth and is accessible to students with a broad range of ability. Our unrivalled success in the London Borough of Bexley in securing the best destinations for our students is in large part due to the IB. Most universities now prefer the IB to A levels and employers regularly call for better knowledge and skills in mathematics, English, languages and science - all of which the IB provides.
